Our History
Singapore’s space journey began in the 1970s, long before NSAS’s creation.
Singapore's Space Journey

NSAS is established on 1 April 2026 as a department under the Ministry of Trade & Industry. It assumes the functions of the Office for Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn), which was Singapore’s national space office.
In 2013, the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), together with other participating ministries and agencies, established the Office for Space Technology and Industry (OSTIn) in order to capture the economic opportunities and build a thriving space industry for Singapore.
In 2020, OSTIn received an expanded mandate to serve as Singapore's national space office to develop our space industry, space technology and capability, space policy and regulations, space talent and workforce, and to grow international partnerships and strengthen global space governance.
